KOST – Cooperation School and Theatre in Saxony – is an initiative for cultural education at schools in Saxony sponsored by Landesbühnen Sachsen. KOST is a motivator and source of inspiration for everyone who see theatre as an important part of cultural education and who want to enliven and enrich school culture. Central goals of our work are the qualitative further development in the field of aesthetic working methods, the participation of students in these processes and new perspectives on theatre and its methods as well as the qualification of teachers.
Every year we organize a theatre festival by and for students from Saxony, always in a different theatre in Saxony.We initiate and support intensive two-year cooperation between professionals and schools in order to make theatre a matter of course in schools and to train teachers. We organize advanced training for teachers and theatre mediators/educators. We organize meeting formats for schoolchildren (Young Conference) so that they can talk to each other about current social issues and get into artistic work. We work in a Germany-wide network “Schule und Theater”.
