Chasing the Wind

Youth Encounter in Teatro Giovanni Testori, Forlì

In the week 13 to 21 April 2024, over 50 young people from all over the world will come together in ForlĂ, Italy for a creative week.

Under the theme “Chasing the Wind -Stormy Future or Tailwind for Change”, the young people will be inspired to engage artistically with issues important to them.

In this project, the young people are encouraged to creatively express their thoughts and feelings about their view of the future.

A precise definition of the topics that the young people consider essential will be made together at first meetings at the beginning of 2024.

These meetings of all participants will take place at zoom. The young people will have the opportunity to develop their artistic skills in specially designed workshops.

These workshops (with a focus on performing arts and singing) will be led by experienced artists and educators who will help the participants to transform their ideas and emotions into artistic performances.

The creative workshop team will be led by the highly experienced Artistic Director of Australian Theatre for Young Audiences (ATYP) Fraser Corfield. ATYP is the leading art organization in Australia for young audience. Fraser Corfield will be joined by Danielle O’Keefe, Founder and CEO of “The House that Dan Builds” (The House), an Australian company specializing in bringing leading female composers and singers together with the youth to give voice to female stories.

The group leaders accompanying the young people are all taking part in the university further education programme “Theatre Mediation” led by the Universities of Agder (UiA, Norway) and Derby (UK).

Together with the two Australian artists, they will lead the workshops. At the end of the project, the results of this creative week will be presented in the school where all the creative week is offered.

The project aims to foster the artistic creativity of the young people, provide them with a platform for self-expression and critical thinking, while deepening their understanding of pressing global issues through shared dialogue.

The youth will be empowered to engage and shape themselves as creative citizens who actively participate in designing a better future.
